Eames Inspiration: In 1946, designers Charles and Ray Eames created the iconic Eames Molded Plywood Chair. The chair gained popularity due to its aesthetics and comfort. Time magazine named it The Best Design of the 20th Century. More than 60 years later, a window installation at Barneys NY conceived by Bill Kid and co-curated with Luna Park, invite celebrated urban artists to reimagine the chairs to benefit Operation Design. The artworks raised over $40,000 and were featured in multiple online and print publications, including a news segment on Channel 5 MyFoxNY. Presented by Public Works Department, Billi Kid worked in partnership with Herman Miller, The Eames Foundation an Gawker Artists to bring the project to life.
